The Lotus uses the latest motorsport techniques and procedures to produce a lightweight yet strong carbon-fibre bodywork structure around the standard road-going Lotus Exige aluminium extruded and bonded chassis that features a fully adjustable suspension system with double wishbones all round. Power is provided by race tuned version of the Exige S road car engine linked to a sequential six-speed gearbox.
The car was campaigned successfully in last year’s British GT series, with the UK team using it as a development platform to finalise its ultimate specification for impending GT3 homologation in 2008. This particular example, (Chassis No 1) was the first customer car delivered and is the first and only example of the model to be campaigned outside of the UK.
The Lotus will line up against an exotic field of thoroughbreds including Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, and Aston Martin for Round 4 of the Australian GT Championship.
