Championship winning technical director Nathan McBride has joined Autohaus Motorsports for the 10 race 2007 SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT Series.
McBride is a championship winning engineer, having chaperoned last year’s GT champion, Lawson Aschenbach, to the GT series title. McBride brings his 12 years of race engineering experience to the Autohaus camp with the goal of returning 2004 series champion Tommy Archer to the top of the GT class in 2007.
“I am excited to be apart of the Autohaus team working with Tommy, †McBride said. “I have raced in and around the same series’ as Tommy for years and have admired his competitiveness and driving abilities. We share the same goal as competitors and we have both been on championship winning teams. Tommy and I have won multiple GT championships before; this year our goal is to win it together. â€
McBride is looking forward to engineering the No. 5 Autohaus Motorsport Dodge Viper Competition Coupe. “After several successful days of testing and development, some engineering challenges still remain, but that is what keeps things interesting. Last year Autohaus didn’t have an engineer, Tommy and the mechanics were pretty much doing the setup work, which is asking a lot of a driver. Although we are still in the developmental stages, the Autohaus team is coming together nicely. Our combined efforts thus far have greatly improved the cars performance, and I am sure that with continued efforts we will be looking at a successful season. â€
“Nathan brings a strong technical background to our team, and we are thrilled to have him on board, †Theresa Conder, Autohaus team manager, said. “We have already seen some of the dividends of his experience during our initial testing. Tommy and Nathan have connected right from the start, and I am certain that their combined experience will reap the rewards on race day. â€
“Nathan is a welcome addition to the team, †Tommy Archer commented. “We had the opportunity to test at Sebring a couple weeks back and I was impressed. He is bringing a fresh insight to the team as well as to the preparation of the car which is good for me and the team. I am also looking forward to his innovative ideas on ringing additional speed out of the Viper. â€
