The presence of Allan Simonsen and a second Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 in the field are factors guaranteed to make round 3 of the Australian GT Championship at the iconic Mount Panorama Bathurst circuit this weekend (April 6-7) a truly memorable Easter.
The first two rounds of the 2007 Australian GT Championship (at the A1 GP Eastern Creek NSW and the Clipsal 500 Adelaide) have been outstanding both in the quality of the cars and the racing, but we have now backed that up with yet another new car – the Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 for Ian Palmer- and the news that Allan Simonsen has re-arranged his overseas race program to compete. The GT Championship is going from strength to strength, Category Manager Terry Little said today.
Championship leader Allan Simonsen in the Consolidated Chemical Ferrari 360GT flies back into Sydney following testing with his European team to take to the mountain, while Ian Palmer has replaced his Honda with a Gallardo GT3 to match that of Bryce Washington who made such an impressive Lamborghini debut on the streets of Adelaide at the Clipsal 500.
Since its first race, Washington has tested the Natrad Radiators and Auto Air sponsored Lamborghini at the Mallala circuit with impressive results and is certainly going to be one to watch at Bathurst as he fights to improve on his current third place in the Championship points chase.
