Rolling Start a First for Macau

The FIA WTCC adopted the rolling start from the current season. With the agreement of all the manufacturers, the first race of each event has a rolling start, while the format of the second remains a standing start. This will be a “first” for Macau, as all races (with the exception of the very first Grand Prix which was a ‘Le Mans’ type start) have been standing starts off the grid.

Changes to “Success Ballast” Rules This year every driver started the season with 10kg ballast. More is then added between meetings based on both race results and championship position. Results ballast is added up to a maximum of 40kg and a minimum of -10kg. Championship position ballast is added at a rate of 5kg for every 10 points scored. The two ballasts combined may total up to a maximum of 60kg.
