As if visiting the streets of Exhibition Place for the first time wasn’t exciting enough, mother nature decided to chime in at Toronto and throw some rain into the mix. This weekend on SPEED, watch all the slipping, sliding and hard-fought racing, as SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge arrives at the Steelback Grand Prix of Toronto.
The SCCA SPEED Touring Car field rolls onto the Toronto grid with rain tires, but will be searching for puddles by the race’s end. Canadian Kuno Wittmer leads the field away from the grid in his Acura RSX, but even his extensive circuit knowledge can’t save him from a slick Turn Three.
Ian Baas also gets into trouble early in the race, but charges from the back of the pack in his Audi A4 to challenge Pierre Kleinubing and Peter Cunningham for the win in an intense late-race battle. The SCCA Touring Car race airs on SPEED, Saturday, July 14, at 11 a. m. (EDT), with replays on Monday, July 16, at 3 a. m., and Wednesday, July 18, at 2 p. m.
As the SCCA SPEED GT cars arrive on the gird so does the rain, and teams must make the agonizing decision about tire changes. Randy Pobst makes a clean getaway, but plenty of drama is unfolding behind him, as drivers struggle to find grip in the continuously changing conditions. The SCCA SPEED GT race airs on SPEED, Saturday, July 14, at 12 p. m. (EDT), with replays at 4 a. m., Monday, July 16, and 3 p. m. on Wednesday, July 18.
