Steve MacGregor, the 2006 Aussie Racing Cars Masters Cup Champion, has started the 2007 Series in fine form and is poised to defend his title after forging his way to the top of the points after three rounds.
MacGregor’s success, in what is arguably Australia’s most competitive motorsport category, is not by luck but rather hard work and dedication of his team and the valuable support of his sponsors.
As the 2006 Series drew to an end MacGregor formed a valuable partnership with Thiel Partners Motorsport and Mortgage Street Financial Services that has carried over to the 2007 Series.
“We have effectively formed the biggest privateer team in the Series, ” MacGregor said.
“There are so many things that have to be in place to be successful in motorsport and having good sponsor partnerships is extremely important.
“If companies such as Thiel Partners Accountants, Mortgage Street Home Loans, Projects Queensland, www.zbreaks.com.au, Airman “The mini digger digging Australia”, Miami Smash Repairs, Lafarge PlastaMasta Gold Coast, and Coastline Building Services had not come on board I simply could not do what I have done so far. “
The 44 year-old Gold Coast businessman won three of the seven rounds that made up the 2006 Aussie Racing Cars Series.
Steve has finished on the podium in all four rounds in 2007, with his latest results a win at both, the Bathurst Easter festival and at Sydney’s Eastern Creek, which backed up his second place at Melbourne’s Albert Park Grand Prix and third at Adelaide’s Clipsal 500.
“We have got off to a good start in 2007 but there is a long way to go before we can claim the title for a second time, ” Steve said.
Steve is not only a serious contender amongst his fellow over-35 competitors in the Masters Cup but regularly sticks it to the younger competitors in the category.
Five rounds of the 2007 Series remain with the next being at Sydney’s Eastern Creek Raceway over the Queen’s Birthday weekend 9-11 June.
