Race fans have an exceptional show in store for them at the upcoming Lowe’s Motor Speedway race in Charlotte, N.C., May 24. The traditional standing start, tire changes, and an inverted rolling restart are all on the program and under the lights for Round Four of the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT Championship.
Although this is not the series’ first visit to the legendary 1.5-mile oval, it will be a unique event in SCCA SPEED World Challenge history. Unlike the 2000 race at Lowe’s Motor Speedway, the course used by the SCCA SPEED GT cars will not use the infield road course. Instead, the entire oval will be used with two chicanes, one on the front straight that incorporates the pit exit, and a chicane located on the back straight as well.
