With final testing of the two new Team RAC BMW s now complete, following a visit to Pembrey Circuit in Wales, WSR are now ready for the start of the 2007 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, which is just a few days away.
WSR mechanics have been working around the clock to build and prepare two new BMW E90 320si for the season opener at Brands Hatch this weekend.
So far, the majority of the team s testing has taking place using a loan BMW 2006-spec car but with the latest 2007 technology received from BMW Motorsport, Team RAC are ready to race the newly constructed cars competitively under the Super 2000 regulations for the first time.
Following the test at Pembrey, Dick Bennetts, WSR Team Principal said: “Considering we only completed building the car very recently we re not in too bad a shape. We re not as organised as I like to be and ideally we could have done with another couple of weeks before the first race, but I know we re not the only team in this situation. We ve still some homework to do with regard to minor adjustments and we ll also be putting our heads together back at the head office to decide on our set-up and strategy for the weekend. “
