Audi has extended its winning streak in the readers’ poll held “AUTO BILD ALLRAD”, topping two categories for the fourth year in a row. Two Audi models took home the title of “All-wheel drive car of the year 2009”, with the Audi A4 quattro winning the category “All-wheel drive cars between €25,000 and €40,000” and the Audi A6 quattro winning “All-wheel drive cars above €40,000”.
“Eight awards in four years impressively prove the quality of our quattro technology. And this is yet another chapter in the success story Audi has enjoyed since it unveiled the legendary Ur-quattro in 1980,” says Michael-Julius Renz, Head of Sales Germany at AUDI AG. Renz thanked the readers of “AUTO BILD ALLRAD” and accepted the award trophies together with Hans-Joachim Radde, Head of Marketing Germany at AUDI AG, at the AMI international car show in Leipzig yesterday evening.
Audi also achieved top-three rankings in other categories of the reader’s poll. The Audi Q5 came in second in the category “Off-road vehicles and SUVs between €25,000 and €40,000.” In the category “all-wheel drive coupes and sports cars”, the Audi R8 and Audi A5 quattro secured second and third place, respectively.
These awards show that Audi continues to rank as one of the most successful brands in the all-wheel drive market in 2009. More than 165,000 readers took part in this year’s poll covering 134 models in 10 categories.
Audi is now putting the latest all-wheel drive innovation on the road: quattro with sport differential. In the new Audi S4, A5/S5 and A5/S5 Cabriolet, the active sport differential elevates the road dynamics of permanent all-wheel drive to a whole new level. The regulating system distributes drive torque in continuously variable proportions between the rear wheels for even greater agility, driving pleasure and active driving safety.
