O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Series to Visit Two Central Kentucky Hotspots

With three races in the books, the O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts will visit two central Kentucky hotspots this weekend with a Friday night trip to Ponderosa Speedway and a Saturday night visit to Bluegrass Speedway. Verona, KY’s Jerry Rice currently leads Victor Lee and Mike Marlar in the Series points standings.

The nation’s most competitive regional racing series will be in action this Friday, April 27th at the Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY. A full racing program is planned with Racing Optics Time Trials, Mason Racin’/Arizona Sport Shirts Heats, Design 500 B-Mains, and the 40 Lap, $3,000 to win 4th Annual Spring 40.

Pit gates for this event will open at 4:00pm, with general admission gates opening at 5:00pm. Hot Laps are slated to hit the track at 7:00pm with Racing Optics Time Trials to follow. Adult general admission will be $15, children ages 6 to 12 will be $5, children under age 6 will be free, and a pit pass will be $30. Newport, TN’s Jimmy Owens won this event one year ago after Mother Nature pushed the race back to June.

On Saturday, April 28 the O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Series presented by Arizona Sport Shirts will make its first visit of the year to the Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY. Another complete night of racing will feature Racing Optics Time Trials Mason Racin’/Arizona Sport Shirts Heats, Design 500 B-Mains, and the 40 lap, $3,000 to win 10th Annual Spring Sizzler.

Activities for the April 28 event will start one hour earlier than normal with pit gates opening at 3:00pm and general admission gates opening at 4:00pm. A mandatory drivers meeting will take place at 5:00 followed by Hot Laps go at 5:30pm, and Racing Optics Time Trials at or around 6:00pm. Adult general admission will be $15, children ages 6 to 12 will be $8, children under age 6 will be free, and a pit pass will be $30. Last year’s Spring Sizzler at Bluegrass Speedway was rained out.

In three races this season, the nation’s most competitive regional racing series has had three different winners. Michael England claimed his first ever Series victory in the season opener at the Florence Speedway. Last Friday, another first time Series winner, Rick Aukland, found victory lane at the Twin Cities Raceway Park. On Saturday, Don O’Neal was the winner of the 24th Annual Hoosier Dirt Classic at the Brownstown Speedway.

Heading into the weekend, Verona, KY’s Jerry Rice leads the 2007 O’Reilly NARA Battle of the Bluegrass Championship standings over Stanford, KY’s Victor Lee and former Series Champion Mike Marlar. 2006 Series Rookie of the Year Just IN Rattliff is fourth while last season’s leading feature winner, Greg Johnson, is fifth. Well over 100 different drivers have already competed with the Series this season.
