Cory McClenathan was both happy and relieved after Thursday’s first round of qualifying for Sunday’s Auto Club Finals at Pomona, Calif.
McClenathan drove the FRAM Top Fuel dragster to an elapsed time of 4.566 seconds at 321.50 mph, leaving left him seventh with three more qualifying attempts—one Friday and two on Saturday to go.
“The car ran real good, “ he said. “We got off to a good start and we are happy with that run. It is exciting to be in the field but we hope to run better in our next three qualifying runs (one Friday and two Saturday) and move up a little higher. The track was in good shape. “
