After two rounds of qualifying in the AMS Pro Mod Challenge presented by Tindle Enterprises, Inc. at the O’ Reilly NHRA Fall Nationals outside of Dallas, defending AMS World Champion Jay Payne sits at the top of the heap with a 6.041/237.88. Series presenting sponsor Tim Tindle sits second with a 6.051 with his teammate Rick Stivers in fifth with a 6.111.
Mike Knowles drove his Texas-themed ‘63 Corvette to a 6.268 to the applause of the standing Texas crowd, and Steve Engel grabbed top speed honors with a blistering 240.12, setting a track record. Josh Hernandez, the current points leader and heir apparent to the World Championship crown, ran an off-pace 6.121 to take the No. 6 spot after being shut off in the first round because of an empty air bottle. Hernandez will be awarded the BAE Championship Cup at a special ceremony on Saturday, September 21 before the final round of qualifying.
