JEGS High Performance will sponsor all three SPORTSnational events in 2008, company officials announced Tuesday. Continuing its longstanding commitment to Sportsman-level racing, the mail order parts giant will present the JEGS NHRA Cajun SPORTSnationals at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, La., the JEGS NHRA Northern SPORTSnationals at National Trail Raceway in Columbus, Ohio, and the JEGS NHRA Pacific SPORTSnationals at Auto Club Dragway in Fontana, Calif.
“Sportsman racing is a big part of NHRA and JEGS; it’s also something our associates and family are very proud of, “ said John Coughlin, one of the four racing Coughlin brothers. “Together we have enjoyed tremendous success over the years. JEGS is proud to be a part of all three of the NHRA SPORTSnational events. We look forward to working closely with the NHRA to improve these events each and every year for the racers and fans. “
In the three years since the SPORTSnationals format was reintroduced, the event’s have already gained the reputation as premier races for Sportsman drivers. The event’s are filled with intense Sportsman racing and plenty of special events such as Hemi Challenges, King of the Track Shootouts, Gamblers Races, and Engine Builder’s Cups.
“We feel like the races have gotten better each year, both with the level of competition and the way drivers are rewarded for their efforts, “ said Scott Woodruff, JEGS director of media and motorsports. “The prize and purses at these events are good-sized and are increasing each year. Winning a JEGS SPORTSnational event is a big deal to the racers and our goal as a company and family is to make it a bigger event each and every year. “
“We introduced the JEGS Crown in 2004 for anyone that managed to win both JEGS SPORTSnational events in the same year competing in the same class. In 2008, we will make it two out of three. It’s going to be exciting. If the winner of the JEGS Cajun SPORTSnationals and the JEGS Northern SPORTSnationals make the trip to the JEGS Pacific SPORTSnationals, it will only add to the drama and excitement. “
JEGS Mail Order continues to expand it presence in NHRA Championship Drag Racing. In addition to the sponsorship of the three JEGS NHRA SPORTSnationals, the company supports the prestigious JEGS Allstars Race at Route 66 Raceway in Chicago, the JEGS Super Quick Series in Division 3, and the JEGS Top Dragster Shootout in Division 3. JEGS Mail Order also is a major contingency sponsor in the NHRA.
On the track, the company sponsors the JEGS.com Chevrolet Cobalt of recently re-crowned Pro Stock champion Jeg Coughlin Jr., the turbo-charged JEGS.com Pontiac GTO Pro Mod car driven by Troy Coughlin, the JEGS Chevrolet Cobalt that Mike Coughlin guided to the 2007 Division 3 Top Sportsman title, and the JEGS.com rail of first-time Division 3 Top Dragster champion John Coughlin.
