NHRA: Tire Spin Helps Sideline Toliver at Fall Nationals ROCKSTAR

Jerry Toliver’s first-round experience Sunday in the O’Reilly Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex was, as Yogi Berra has said, “déjà vu all over again. ”

Toliver’s ROCKSTAR Energy Drink/AutoZone Toyota Solara Funny Car put up a good fight for the first three seconds of the quarter-mile run before the tires spun and took away any chance of winning the race against Tim Wilkerson.

“We were ahead at half-track, ” Toliver said. “The car shook and skated around and as I was thinking about whether to lift, the tires spun and Wilkerson went by me so I shut if off. This is the same thing that happened last week (at Memphis).

“We are frustrated, but we will keep our noses to the grindstone and keep going for a win. We have three more races to go this season. ”
