Justin Humphreys has two qualifying runs Saturday to solidify a perch in the top half of the 16-car Pro Stock field for Sunday’s Auto Club Finals.
Humphreys, who was sixth Thursday, battled tire spin and tire shake on his 6.702-second effort Friday. His 6.699 on Thursday in the RaceRedi Motorsports/Knoll Gas&Energy Pontiac GTO left him 13th.
“The car blew the tires off in low gear and when I put it in second, they shook hard, “ Humphreys said. “We were just too aggressive on the tune-up. The car ran good down the back half (of the track). We’ll make some good runs Saturday to keep us in the show. “
