POMONA, Calif., Feb. 10, 2008—Kenny Koretsky said he’d be ready in the first round of Pro Stock eliminations in Sunday’s CARQUEST Auto Parts Winternationals, and he was. He left the starting line with a huge advantage over rival Warren Johnson --. 063-second to. 110—only to see it quickly evaporate due to tire shake.
“We just don’t seem to get a break,” said a dejected Koretsky. “I had five-hundredths (of a second advantage) and then the car began shaking real bad. It shook through two gears.”
By the time he reached the finish line in 6.873 seconds at 205.01 mph, Johnson had already lit the win light in 6.661 seconds at 208.456 mph.
“It was disappointing, but, overall, it was a good weekend. We qualified (13th) with several new crew guys. All of them did a good job this weekend.”
Koretsky and the Nitro Fish/Indicom Electric Chevy Cobalt resume NHRA POWERade Series competition at Phoenix, Feb. 22-24.
