Morgan Lucas’ string of bad racing luck continued at the 13th race of the season—the Mopar Mile-High Nationals with a first round loss against strong competitor, Rod Fuller, who eventually won the Top Fuel division on Sunday.
Lucas almost pulled off a major hole-shot victory when his Lucas Oil dragster jumped from the starting line with a great reaction time (. 037 -. 076) and ran a time of 4.941 seconds, 304.87 mph to Fuller’s winning time of 4.781 seconds, 310.91 mph.
Lucas will remain in the No. 15 position in the NHRA POWERade points standings with 329 points after 13 of 23 events.
The next NHRA event will be the second race of the ‘Western Swing’ at the Pacific Raceways for the running of the 20th annual Schuck’s Auto Supply Nationals on July 20 – 22
