“Historically speaking, Atlanta has not always been the best place to race for me, but I’m looking forward to it, ” said Johnson. “The team has been working extremely hard to turn this thing around. I truly believe we’re close—it’s just a matter of time. Setbacks are not going to affect our confidence—there’s a lot of racing left in the season. ”

Johnson has made it past the first round in Atlanta only once (2005), and after the race in Las Vegas, finds himself 14th in the points standings.

Since John Force did not qualify in Las Vegas, Johnson currently owns the longest streak for consecutive races qualified on the Funny Car Series, officially entering in 66 straight races.
