After a workmanlike weekend at the JEGS.com Cajun SPORTSnationals in Louisiana, Troy Coughlin is finally ready to race in the AMS Pro Mod Challenge. Coughlin missed the first two races of the 10-race series while sorting out a new car, but his recent outing at No Problem Raceway have him excited about this weekend’s national event near Atlanta.
“We did exactly what we set out to do in Louisiana,” Coughlin said. “We made it down the track every time except maybe once or twice when we were searching for the outer limits of what we could do. The main goal of figuring out the chassis and power ratio was accomplished and we even had time to peck away at the tune-up, so it was a big success.”
Of the numerous test runs Coughlin made, his best was a 6.41-second blast at 228 mph. Those numbers are slightly off the pace Coughlin will probably need to make the field in Atlanta, a fact not lost on the veteran racer.
