Wilkerson Readies Two Monte Carlo’s For Gainesville

Gainesville, Prerace

The third stop on the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing tour is in the Sunshine State of Florida. Funny Car pro, Tim Wilkerson knows the racing conditions at Gainesville Raceway are different from what he has encountered previously this year. So, the veteran made some changes to his Levi, Ray & Shoup Chevy Monte Carlo to prepare for the upcoming ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals. And at the same time, Wilkerson was busy preparing his son Daniel’s Top Alcohol Funny Car to compete for the first time this year.

“We stopped in Valdosta, Ga. on our way to Gainesville, “ explained Wilkerson. “We changed transmissions in Dan’s car and we needed to shake it out. Plus, he has a new Monte Carlo body and we needed to make sure he could see out of it okay. Of course, we had first time out boogers. But we had two days and we got it straightened out, so we’re ready to see what it will do.
