In front of his hometown crowd at Gateway International Raceway, Funny Car pro Tim Wilkerson saved his best run of the weekend at the O’Reilly NHRA Midwest Nationals, for today. But his best wasn’t enough to get his Levi, Ray & Shoup Monte Carlo past his first-round opponent, Mike Ashley.
Wilkerson posted a nice looking 4.922 at 313.15 mph, which was the best he made all weekend, but there wasn’t a single Funny Car that could have beat the guy running next to him. Ashley posted the quickest run of the entire day, a 4.771 at 330.07 mph.
