Earl Bamber ended Round 5 of the Toyota Racing Series at Manfeild Autocourse in Feilding today with a 6th place in the prestigious Dan Higgins Memorial Trophy race. The race, the last of three held for the category over the weekend, featured plenty of action as several incidents caused two stoppages during the 20 lap race.
Bamber brought his TradeZone Tatuus through the carnage unscathed to take a good finish in a tough race. “I managed to miss it all, “ the Wanganui 16 - year - old said after the race. “I was very close to some of it, it was an entertaining race. “
Bamber did a good job at the wheel of the TradeZone Tatuus this weekend. The car was plagued with oversteer throughout the entire meeting which affected the handling of the car around Manfeild’s twisty 3.03 kilometre layout. “We couldn’t quite find the perfect balance but we slowly worked our way forward, “ said Bamber.
Despite the difficulties Bamber extracted the best from the car as he advanced from qualifying 12th on Saturday morning to a 9th place finish on Saturday afternoon. He finished 10th in Sunday morning’s race after a good dice with Nic Jordan, who he overcame, and then with the experienced Daynom Templeman.
In the Dan Higgins Trophy Race he was once again involved in some close quarter battles on his way to 6th place.
The Toyota Racing Series now returns to the South Island for two rounds. The first is at Timaru International Motor Raceway over the weekend of 3/4 March followed by a round at Teretonga Park in Invercargill that features the most prestigious race of the series - the New Zealand Grand Prix.
Earl Bamber’s 2006 racing campaign is supported by the TradeZone Industrial Group and their supplier partners CRC, Koken, Hitachi Power Tools, Bahco, Fuller Hand Tools plus ESWA, Power Horse Energy Drink, Wanganui Toyota and South Taranaki Toyota.
