Race Report
The French round of the 2007 Formula 3 Euro Series had a pretty troubled weekend at Magny-Cours. The concomitance with the Formula One Grand Prix led to severe time issues, forcing the organization to cancel the regular free practice and shorten the two heats by more than 15 minutes. In the first race, Edoardo Piscopo tried to make his way back from a mid-grid starting position, clinching 13th place after some intense battling that played down chances to complete any further recovery. In Race 2, Edoardo was moved – like other 10 drivers – 5 places back on the grid by the stewards, due to an alleged failure to slow down under yellow flags. Then a contact with Cyndie Allemann, right after the start of Race 2, put both drivers out of contention with suspension damage.
Edoardo Piscopo – Red Bull Junior Program Driver:
“I feel like I’ve no luck at all on my side at this moment. In the very limited time we had in Qualifying, I couldn’t find the right set-up. Despite the positive tests we had here at Magny-Cours weeks ago, we weren’t able to turn the advices I reported to the team into real performance improvements. On Saturday’s Race 1, I battled back in the middle of the pack, while, on Sunday, my second race was stopped by a contact at the start, in which I can’t really see any fault on my side. I hope to reverse my fortunes in my home event at Mugello”.
