Jolyon Palmer has taken the first pole position of his single-seater career at Brands Hatch ahead of the third round of the Formula Palmer Audi Championship on the Grand Prix circuit, making him the youngest polesitter in FPA history.

The 16-year-old continued the good form which saw him top the morning practice session, setting a time of 1m26.023s to take pole position by just a tenth of a second from Tim Bridgman. “I’ve really knuckled down this weekend, and to take pole is absolutely fantastic! “ exclaimed Palmer.

Having topped both sessions so far at the A1GP meeting, Jolyon is confident of completing the hat-trick by taking pole position for Round Four. “A tenth of a second may seem like a small margin for pole, but the field is so close it’s a handy gap. I feel good to go for another one! “
