Luciano Bacheta extended his lead in the 2007 Visma Formula Palmer Audi Championship to 18 points after taking his second win of the season in Round 5 at Brands Hatch.

Starting second, the 17-year-old got the jump on Jolyon Palmer at the start, but was kept honest all the way as he took the victory by just over two seconds. Behind Bacheta, Palmer took the first podium finish of his single-seater career with second, coming out on top of a breathtaking battle with Tim Bridgman after battling past at Pilgrim’s Drop on the penultimate lap. Bridgman held third to complete a hat-trick of podium finishes for the weekend, just ahead of a fast-closing Stefan Wilson.

“That was undoubtedly the toughest race of my career, ” said Bacheta after his victory. “As much as I tried I couldn’t pull away from Jolyon and I just couldn’t afford to make a single mistake! “
