A1 Team India driver Parthiva Sureshwaren was back in racing action this weekend, in the Formula Renault V6 Asia Championship. With a last minute deal to participate in this Series the Chennai born racer had no time to test his race car prior to the first race weekend, making his debut in Friday practice with just two hours of running before Saturday qualifying. The Indian driver went on to finish seventh in the Sprint race and a stunning second place in the Feature race - the best finish for any Indian driver in the Asian Festival of Speed races at Sepang this weekend.
With only limited experience of the car, Sureshwaren made a mistake in qualifying, resulting in contact with the barriers and damage to the car. Although he had posted sixth fastest lap in qualifying, Sureshwaren was forced to start the Sprint race from the pit lane after failing to make the start grid in time andd despite the best efforts of his team. Lying at the back of the field on the first lap, Sureshwaren was determined to improve his position and in a sterling drive made his way through to cross the line seventh, the position he would take for the later Grand race.
