The Australian Motor Sport Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Quentin Crombie as its new General Manager. Crombie crosses over to the AMSF from CAMS after serving in the capacity of Member Services and Development Manager since November 2002.

During the past four and a half years, Crombie has been the driving force behind CAMS’ various sports development initiatives including the successful CAMS Rising Star Program which aims to facilitate the rapid development of drivers from the junior ranks to national and international competition. Amazingly, the Program already boasts one state Formula Ford champion and one national Formula Ford champion after only two seasons in its current format. This is in addition to a number of ‘Rookie of the Year’ recipients.

According to AMSF Chairman Tom Warwick, part of the goal of the AMSF is to build on the outstanding success of the CAMS Rising Star Program and expand that into the international arena.

“The AMSF has always worked very closely with the CAMS Rising Star Program ever since its inception and it is no surprise that the Foundation is currently providing financial assistance to last season’s ‘Most Outstanding CAMS Rising Star’ and reigning Australian Formula Ford Champion, John Martin who is competing in the prestigious British F3 Championship.

“We expect many of our future funded drivers to come from within the Rising Star ranks and I have no doubt that Quentin’s past success and experience in this area will provide the Foundation with the necessary knowledge, skills and resources to continue our mission of nurturing and supporting Australia’s talented young motor sport competitors both financially and personally to ensure that they are able to reach their full potential in international competition. “

Past recipients of driver funding through the AMSF include Chris Atkinson (FIA World Rally Championship), Will Power (Champ Car World Series), Michael Patrizi (F3 Euro Series) and James Courtney and Will Davison (V8 Supercars).

Crombie will commence his new appointment with the AMSF from 23 July 2007.
