Champ Car: 2008 Champ Car Schedule Announced

Newman Haas

The Champ Car World Series on Monday announced a 14-race schedule for 2008 that includes a new event in Jerez, Spain. Six races are in the United States.

Gone from the 2007 schedule, which concludes Sunday in Mexico City, are downtown street races in Las Vegas and San Jose, Calif. Three races that were on the original 2007 schedule but subsequently canceled—Denver, Phoenix and China—are not part of the plans in ‘08. IndyStar.com

Canadian Champ Car fans are some of the most supportive in the world and the three events in Canada are a highlight of the season, the head of Champ Car said Monday in announcing its 14-race schedule for 2008.

Spain will be a new stop on the Champ Car World Series next year, but there will be no races in China or Las Vegas, said Steve Johnson, Champ Car’s president and chief executive officer, in a telephone news conference.

The Canadian races will be June 29 in Mont-Tremblant, Que., July 6 in Toronto and July 20 in Edmonton. CanadianPress

Six minutes before race time and this is a very sparse crowd by Bristol standards. Tens of thousands of empty seats. #nascar

Sure sounded like a lot more boos than cheers for Edwards on the TV broadcast

And add the Pistone family's prayers for Jeff Byrd
