Graham Rahal has today been confirmed as driver for Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing (NHLR), piloting the No. 2 MEDI | ZONE Panoz DP01 Champ Car. A leading American driver, Rahal, 18, has already established himself as a highly competitive, winning, racer. He has risen through the ranks of karting and junior single-seater formulae to take his place on the Champ Car grid for his rookie season of the Series.
Rahal has tested with Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing during the off-season, driving one of the team s Lolas in Sebring, Homestead and Houston. With the arrival of the all-new Panoz Champ Car, he was then able to prepare for the season ahead in the 2007 race car. Running at tests in Sebring, Houston and Laguna Seca Rahal has already impressed with his pace in the 750 horse power machine.
He says of today s announcement, “I m very privileged to be driving with NHLR, and to have the backing of MEDI | ZONE for the No. 2 car, and my thanks go to Paul (Newman), Carl (Haas) and Michael (Lanigan) for giving me the opportunity to join the top team in the Champ Car paddock.
