Paul Tracy: “Portland obviously wasn’t very good for us”

It’s been a busy week so far for the Forsythe Team, and it will only get busier as the blue and white team will take part in the Grand Prix of Cleveland Presented by LaSalle Bank this weekend. Before heading to Ohio, Paul Tracy and Oriol Servia spent two days testing at the scenic Road America Road Course where they continued developing the setups on their DP01 Champ Cars.

Cleveland has proven to be a successful event for both drivers in the past. Tracy has taken the Victory three times and has had three pole positions at the temporary airport circuit. Servia, who will make his fourth start with the Forsythe Team, will look to keep his podium streak alive as he has finished in the top three for the past two years in Cleveland.

“It’s been a tough year, it’s definitely not what we had planned. We started out strong in Las Vegas but then my injury in Long Beach just set us back quite a bit. Portland obviously wasn’t very good for us, but we know where we have to improve and we are working on it. We had two days in Road America and hopefully what we’ve been learning will make us a lot quicker here in Cleveland. I like the Cleveland track, I’ve had a lot of success here, we need a good result this weekend so we can gain some momentum back and just start collecting points and more importantly race wins. ”

“Well obviously we didn’t have our best showing at Portland, but after working with the car setup at Road America and having my first test with the Forsythe Team I am convinced that we will be much stronger from now on. I don´t think we are quite where we want to be yet, but we are definitely getting closer. We are very motivated and we are going to try to close the gap to Sebastien (Bourdais).

I’ve always enjoyed racing at Cleveland, I had Pole Position there when I was in Indy Lights and I’ve finished on the Podium the last two years so it’s obviously been a good event for me. It has a great layout, the fans are always very enthusiastic, basically it is one of Champ Car’s top venues. It is also the first of three races in a row so it’s very important to start off on the right foot and pick up some momentum for the busy summer season. ”
