Australia’s Will Power has secured pole position for tomorrow’s Champ Car race on the Gold Coast after setting the fastest time in today’s qualifying session.
Power set a lap record of 1min. 30.054sec. to qualify fastest ahead of Spain’s Oriol Servia, who had his best lap yesterday (1:30.693).
Canadian veteran Paul Tracy (1.30.426) had the second-fastest time behind Power, but Servia earned a front-row grid spot by claiming provisional pole yesterday. Herald Sun

Will Power will have to get by with less power Sunday in the Lexmark Indy 300.
Power and Team Australia appealed a decision by Champ Car to reduce the amount of “power-to-pass” time available to them in the race, but series officials said Saturday they had turned down the request.
At the last Champ Car race in Netherlands on Sept. 2, race director Tony Cotman ordered all drivers to stop using the power-to-pass buttons because of a software glitch. Canadian Press
