Fässler continued: “I had a good start in the feature race and hold up to my tenth place until Duran rocketed from the back and started fighting with Portugal ahead of me which put me in 11th. I completed my pitstop relatively early with 34 laps to go. We lost too much in the pit stop. I came back in 15th place with three guys who had not pitted yet as Mexico Salvador Duran retired. With eleven laps to go I was ready to take advantage of the situation as I saw the possibility to make an attack on Brazil and India Narain Karthikeyan who was slowing down and I moved to 14. “
Max Welti, team principal, A1 Team Switzerland added: “With Marcel finishing both the sprint and feature race, the confidence came back. Racing here in Mexico is very physical and not easy. The positive side is that Marcel did finish both races with good lap times and showed that the car has its potential. However, I am disappointed for not having made any points in the races. But, well-done Marcel for your first ever A1GP! ”
With two races to go before the end of the Championship, Switzerland has scored 45 points in the championship.
