A1 Team Brasil is pleased to confirm that Bruno Junqueira and Sergio Jiménez will participate in next week’s A1GP World Cup of Motorsport final pre-season test at Silverstone in the UK.
Bruno will be returning to the cockpit of the A1 Team Brasil car for the first time since he raced at the finale of last season’s championship at Brands Hatch. Bruno will use his time at the test to re-acquaint himself with the car that he last drove in April. Since then he has been competing in the Champ Car World Series, during which time the highlight has been two podium finishes in his Dale Coyne car.
As the newest addition to A1 Team Brasil, Sergio will be given more time in the car at the test in order to become further accustomed to, and build up his experience of the 520bhp A1GP car. He has so far driven in the rookie test sessions at Snetterton in early August, and then participated for two half-days in the first official pre-season test at Silverstone two weeks ago.
A1 Team Brasil will announce its driver line up for Zandvoort, the opening race of the 2007/08 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport, after next week’s Silverstone test.
Bruno Junqueira: “I’m very happy to be involved with A1 Team Brasil for a second season and to be heading to Silverstone for this test. We have a new technical partnership, and I believe the people involved know a lot about racing and how to put a good team together, so I am sure that Brasil will benefit from this. I’m one hundred per cent sure that Team Brasil will be in much better shape this year, and I am looking forward to getting back in the car next week. ”
Sergio Jiménez: “The last test at Silverstone was very good because from the first to the last lap, we just kept on improving the car all the time. However, we still have more work to do so it’s good that we have this additional testing time. I’m looking forward to working with Bruno because he has a great amount of experience and it will be good to work with him to improve the car for Team Brasil. ”
Emerson Fittipaldi, Team Principal: “I believe that we have put together a strong group of drivers, and I am pleased to be having Sergio and Bruno at the test to continue our pre-event work. Sergio is a driver that I believe has been under-rated in Brasil. However, I have been very impressed with his testing so far and the great thing about A1 is that I can give him the chance that he deserves. We are very happy to have Bruno back after all of his hard work last year, and look forward to developing the car further with him. I have one hundred per cent confidence in Sergio, Bruno and Raphael [Matos] and I am looking forward to having a successful season ahead. ”
