MARIO DOMINGUEZ, #96 Visit Mexico City/PCM/Honda/Dallara/Firestone
Mario on Qualifying: “I am very disappointed with my qualifying result today. We had a pretty good car. My engineers and Lee (Benthem, driver coach) really worked hard last night and they gave me a good car today. Unfortunately, I never really got a rhythm out there. Thanks to all of the terrific fans who support us here in Edmonton.”
CARL SKERLONG, #14 King Taco/Mazda/Swift/Cooper Tires
Carl on race 1 and his pole qualifying effort: “The day started off great. I qualified on the pole for the race tomorrow and had an awesome car to drive in the race. I had a good start, but I got punted by Cameron (Dane) on the first lap and had to come into the pits for repairs. I ended up finishing two laps down in 19th. Everything seemed like it was going to go well today, but all I can say is that things happen. I want to say thanks to the team, and I’m looking forward to a fresh start on the pole tomorrow in the King Taco car.”
Frankie Muniz #41 PCM/Mazda/Swift/Cooper Tires
Frankie on race one and qualifying (for race 2): “Overall, I’m just happy with the fact that I finished another race today. I had a good battle going on the last lap with the points leader, Junior Strous. He tried to pass me, but I was able to hold him off and finish in 12th. I’m very happy with the result today, but I’m still looking for a top-ten finish; hopefully that will happen for me in tomorrow’s race. Thank you to everyone on the team for another good race today.”
Tyler Tadevic, Team Owner: “Carl had one of the best cars on the racetrack today. Unfortunately, Dane Cameron ran into Carl on the first lap, sending him to the back of the pack. We made a mistake in qualifying yesterday and should’ve been on the pole today. If we had been, the race would have gone differently for us. We were able to salvage two championship points, though, and we are all looking forward to another shot at a win in tomorrow’s race. Frankie continues to improve every race, and he did another excellent job today. On the last lap restart, he was able to hold-off the points leader, Junior Strous, when he attempted to pass him for position. I’m very proud of both of the guys and of the whole team; thank you to everyone.”
