The day started well for the Indian team, Karthikeyan taking to the track for the two rookie sessions – designed to givenations with a developing motorsport background more track time. The team set the third fastest time in the morning, despite losing a significant amount of tracktime with a puncture.

After a two hour break the Indian car was back on track for the second practice session. After studying data with his engineer, Karthikeyan made further improvements, taking nearly four tenths off his best time from the morning session.
