Budapest, the city of the huge and blue Danube, the capital city of Hungary, and one of the fastest-running realities in Eastern Europe, will host the fifth round of the 2008 World Series Renault. The Hungaroring, laying less than 15 minutes from the city centre, was the first circuit in the area to open its doors to Formula 1 in 1986, way before the fall of the Berlin Wall and when the country was looking towards Russia as a role model. The track isn’t changed too much since then, still twisty and tricky, with the most significative updates made to the pits and to the paddock area.
On July 3, the series’ Renault-powered Dallaras will start a long practice session ending on the afternoon. Then, on Saturday 5, drivers will face Qualifying, the SuperPole session and Race 1, followed, on Sunday, by Race 2. Prema Powerteam feels to have completed the usual high-level preparation. Alvaro Barba, currently runn ing in 7th place in standings, will try to improve his position, since only 14 points separate him from leader Salvador Duran. News are also expected from Miguel Molina, stopped by several factors in the races held so far. Budapest might represent the start of a change.
