Renger Van Der Zande Takes Second Win Of The Season

The hopes of Prema Powerteam for the Dutch round of the Formula 3 Euro Series were respected at Zandvoort. On his hometown track, Renger Van Der Zande took his second win of the season on Race 2, after ending up in 6th on Saturday. The young driver from Nimega destroyed any potential rivals, moving on the top at the start and staying there until the end. Thanks to this great performance, Renger climbed up to third place in standings, giving another proof of the high potential of the team for the forthcoming round.

Dani Clos, who scored 8th place in qualifying, was penalized with a drive-through on both races, respectively due to a jump start on race 1 and to a yellow-flag pass on race 2, and ultimately ended up in 15th. Stefano Coletti took 18th on race 1, but surrendered to an early spin and a late off-track in race 2, but shown huge improvements over his race pace.

Angelo Rosin - Team Principal
“We came here with a huge motivation; we knew we could have a shot to win. After overcoming a tough and traffic-packed qualifying session, Renger built his second win of the season by taking third place on race 1 and by being… just perfect on race 2. His third place in standings is a huge reward for us all. Alongside this great joy, we still regret the penalty that deprived Dani Clos of what would have been an excellent performance. In the meantime, Stefano Coletti continued to climb his learning curve: his pace keeps getting better, and I think he’ll be definitely taking some good results really soon.”

Renger van der Zande
“The team made a tremendous work, and provided me with an almost perfect racecar. I want to dedicate my second win of the season to my father, who exited unhurt from a car crash this morning. I had a great start, managing to take the lead in the early stages, then I kept control in a relatively easy way. I can’t wait for the next round at Nurburgring, where I’ll try to keep our momentum high.”

Drivers’ standings:
1.Mortara 42; 2.Maki 31; 3.Van der Zande 27; 4.Hulkenberg 26; 5.Vietoris 20; 6.Mailleux, Clairay 19; 8.Vernay 18; 9.Bianchi 17; 10.Tsukakoshi 16
