Indian motor sports is set for a major technological leap with German automobile giant Volkswagen planning to launch a Formula car racing series soon.
The talks are at a nascent stage but the very thought of Formula racing should set the Indian drivers’ pulse racing.
This is the first time that a car manufacturer is entering the Indian scene that has been dominated and controlled by two tyre companies, JK Tyres and MRF.
But, not surprisingly, VW would launch the series in partnership with JK Tyres, who have the support of Federation of Motor Sport Clubs in India (FMSCI), the new governing body for Indian motor sport.
