Canadian businessman Wade Cherwayko is the Seat Holder for A1 Team Canada and oversaw the team’s top-ten debut in the inaugural 2005-06 season of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport.
Under Mr. Cherwayko’s guidance A1 Team Canada finished tenth in the A1GP Nations Standings following a thrilling first season of global competition which included a win for Canada in Round 8’s Feature race in Indonesia with Vancouver’s Sean McIntosh behind the wheel.
In total A1 Team Canada recorded 13 top-ten finishes in its first season and was one of just eight nations in A1GP to celebrate a victory. The 2006-07 A1GP season proved to be more challenging, the team just missing out on a top-ten slot, finishing the year 11th overall but again with a credible record of 14 top-ten starts and 12 top-ten finishes. Canada’s sole podium in last season’s campaign came courtesy of James Hinchcliffe’s second place finish in Round 2’s Sprint race in the Czech Republic.
Mr. Cherwayko’s primary activities are in the international oil and gas business.
