Honda Racing CEO Nick Fry says his team has already received interest from three potential buyers since its parent company declared it was withdrawing from Formula 1 on Friday morning.
Honda is now looking to sell the Brackley-based squad before the season opener in March, after it withdrew from the sport due to the global financial crisis.
“We’re one of the best-funded teams and have the best assets and resources in the pit lane - we’ll be quite a desirable asset for somebody.”
Fry admitted that his team had struggled in recent years – having finished ninth in this year’s constructors’ championship and eighth the year before – but maintained it presented a great opportunity for someone wanting to invest in Formula 1.
“Clearly, more success on the track would have been nice but it’s a bigger picture issue and this year we’ve been developing a car for next year,” he said.
“It’s a big opportunity for somebody.”
