The Hong Kong duo of former racing driver Adrian Fu and the SAR’s leading driver Marchy Lee have teamed up to launch their Porsche Carrera Cup Asia campaign under the banner “Racing for Charity”, with the Child’s Dream Foundation the beneficiary.
Lee will contest the remainder of the season, starting from the Indonesian rounds at Sentul Circuit on July 22, and his Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car will be adorned with the Child’s Dream Foundation name. The Swiss and Thai registered charity has a diverse range of programmes which help children in need in the Mekong Sub-Region, including Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia, supporting projects caring for children living in poverty and providing unconditional support. With a lean cost structure, Child’s Dream Foundation ensures all donations reach the needy, and the charity has so far helped more than 20,000 children.
The Porsche Carrera Cup Asia provides an ideal opportunity to increase awareness of the charity across the region and beyond. Says Fu, already a generous supporter of the charity: “This campaign effectively combines two of my passions: that of supporting a worthwhile charitable cause and an aspiring local Hong Kong racing driver. Child’s Dream Foundation does a superb job and this is our way of helping by increasing its profile and visibility. Marchy is a tremendously talented driver, so I’m counting on him to be at the front of the pack so all eyes are on our car! ”
Fu’s campaign has also ensured that Lee will get his Porsche Carrera Cup Asia campaign back on track having impressed during his one-off appearance at the start of the season, the first time he had ever raced the 997-based Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car. The opening rounds in Malaysia saw him take pole position and a podium finish in each race: “This is a really exciting project and I’m thrilled to be a part of it, ” said Lee. “I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel and I sincerely hope we can draw attention to Child’s Dream Foundation and all the excellent work it does. ”
