Major League Baseball’s Mid-Season Summer Classic took place Tuesday night at AT&T Park in San Francisco, with the American League grabbing its 10th consecutive victory over the National League with a 5-4 victory.
With the three-day break now over, the 30 teams now regroup and get ready for the second half of the season. A lot of teams – the Houston Astros and Oakland A’s, in particular – have shown a tendency over the past few years to “heat up” in the second half of a season.
That’s the mindset Jake Kruger – the 14-year-old Lonestar Legacy driver out of Bastrop – is taking going into Saturday’s Legacy race at Thunder Hill Raceway (Kyle, TX).
“This hasn’t been the season we hoped for so far, ” stated Kruger, who finished second overall last year and currently sits fourth in the Lonestar Legacy standings, one point behind Taylor Brandes (who has 316 points), 38 behind James Lee (353) and 56 points behind leader J. P. Karpowicz (371). “Coming off last year’s finish, we wanted to jump out early to a great start. But now we’re putting the early part of this season behind us and moving forward, starting Saturday at THR. ”
“We’ve struggled a little bit this year – but our expectations are very high, too, ” said Bill Kruger, co-owner of Kruger Motorsports Racing (KMR). “It’s just been the little things – a little break here or there would have us sitting higher in the standings. But we still have plenty of racing left and we’re going to shoot for consistency from here on. ”
KMR – which also includes Deb and Nikki – is chomping at the bit to hit the race track. Thanks to Mother Nature, the last time the team raced was June 9 at THR.
Jake and KMR are sponsored by John Martin, Austin Vee-Dub Body Shop, Cool Carts of Texas, CapiTel Communications Inc. and Sikkens Paint.
