AMR Larbre Confirms Mil Milhas Brazilian Race Entry

The late decision by the LMS organisers in January to enter the Brazilian race, just days before the entry closure for participants to the 2007 season, has since provoked some economic and logistical issues amongst all teams.
With the agreement of contracts and budgets between teams and sponsors being made in the middle of the previous season, the addition of a long, expensive round to the calendar, the Mil Milhas being a 1000-mile, 11 hour race, has pushed many teams towards difficulties. This has led to only a reduced number of squads being able to attend the race meeting, regardless of their situation in the overall championship.
In spite of these issues, Larbre Competition, who have competed in international world-class races for more than 20 years, has managed to use its experience, contacts and relationships to be present at the overseas event.
The AMR Larbre team will once again be present, in accordance with the ACO’s requirements. This follows its commitment to the first ACO Autumn Cups in 1995 and 1996, Petit Le Mans in 1998 and the launch of the Le Mans Series in 2004, all of which resulted in victories for the team!
Larbre Competition also won the BPR 3-hours of Curitiba in their first visit to Brazilian soil in 1996, with Christophe Bouchut and Patrice Goueslard triumphant in a Porsche GT1.
The 2007 Mil Milhas will see the Larbre’s Aston Martin DBR9 piloted by LMS regulars Gregor Fisken and Steve Zacchia partnered with Fernando Rees and Roland Berville. Fisken and Berville are paired again having shared their DBR9 at the Le Mans 24 Hours in June this year.

Brazilian driver Fernando Rees joins the prestigious AMR Larbre team and will race the Le Mans-winning Aston Martin DBR9 at this new round of the LMS series. The company Bertin Limitada will partner Fernando and AMR Larbre for this event, discovering the Le Mans Series for the first time and introducing the championship to Brazilian race fans.
Following the economic reasons mentioned above, Larbre’s second Aston Martin DBR9, driven by Christophe Bouchut, Fabrizio Gollin and Gabriele Gardel, will not take part in the season finale, with the team joining many others in sending only one car.
