His new car still unfinished, 2006 COMMA Rookie of the Year Crispin Beaver hopped into the old one and make quick work of the field en route to a pair of GT-2 wins last weekend at the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit just outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Crispin’s crew unloaded the Royal Purple/Phillip’s 66/ Tynis Construction Mazda RX-7 off the trailer Saturday morning for the first time since their championship race last autumn. The CBM crew had been working on a new chassis all winter but was unable to finish it time for the season opener on the weekend of March 24th, forcing Crispin to drive his old car. The old warhorse proved sturdy and fast in Saturday’s practice, requiring only minor adjustments. In Saturday afternoon’s non-points race Beaver coasted to a GT-2 class win and a second-place finish overall.
