Ross Brawn has hailed Jenson Button as a class racer and says he was wrong not to sign him at Ferrari.

The design genius reckons the 29- year-old, who has won the opening two races of the season at a canter, is “revitalized” now that he is at the wheel of a winning car.

Amazingly, in a sport crammed with towering egos, Brawn says Button may have been overlooked by Ferrari because of his humble attitude.

“That might have been a mistake,” admitted Brawn. “It’s just so difficult to judge people. Jenson is a pretty low-profile guy in many ways.

He doesn’t bang his own drum and he gets on with things discreetly and quietly.

“It’s a bit like his driving style, very smooth and very controlled, so I am very happy.”
