This past weekend James Gué competed in the 4th round of the 2007 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Special Reserve at the 3.27 mile Virginia International Raceway in Danville, Virginia. This weekend was a timed 2 ½ hour split format weekend, meaning the Daytona Prototypes and the GT cars had their own separate races. This was Gué’s first weekend competing with the Racers Edge Motorsport team in the #30 Pontiac GXP. R GT car, with co-driver Mark Pavan.
In qualifying Gué recorded a time good enough for 11th on the grid out of a 27 car field. The time set by Gué wasn’t representative of the speed of the car, as a slower car got in the way and a black flag all hampered Gué’s qualifying efforts. However, in the race Gué showed how strong the car was and quickly began working his way to the front.
