The F1 Times understands that the FIA has written to the seven teams who didn’t make the 2010 championship list which include; Prodrive, Lola and Epsilon Euksadi - who were put onto the ‘reserve list’ in the event a confirmed team pulls out.
With the sudden exit announcement from BMW last week, the FIA has offered the slot to a new team.

At the time, there was a threat of a manufacturer-backed breakaway series. However, that threat is now gone after the teams signed a new Concorde Agreement last week.
BMW-Sauber are believed to be still in contention for the spot and would likely get priority should Peter Sauber put together a rescue package to buy the team back from the German carmaker. Currently he holds a 20-percent stake in the team.
Sauber said he was unable to secure a buyout before an August 5th deadline imposed by FIA for BMW-Sauber to sign on to the new Concorde Agreement. TSN.ca
Epsilon Euskadi is the current frontrunner, and its figurehead Joan Villadelprat said last week: “To take BMW’s place would be difficult, but if a vacancy becomes available we will be there.
“I am in permanent contact with the FIA and Ecclestone. I am sure that we will be in F1, I don’t know if it’s in a week, a month or a year.” Yahoo! Eurosport
