Jenson Button of McLaren-Mercedes has completed the fastest lap in the first practice session for the this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix.
The British driver was followed by Michael Schumacher, the most successful driver in the event’s history.
Button completed a lap around the 4.361-kilometre Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in one minute 18.127 seconds.
Schumacher was second in a time of 1:18.285. The seven-time world champion has returned to racing this season after a three-year hiatus.
The Grand Prix is returning to Montreal after a one-year absence. The race was scrapped in 2009 after F1 president Bernie Ecclestone failed to reach a deal with organizers. TSN
Lewis Hamilton was third quickest in the second McLaren followed by German Nico Rosberg in the second Mercedes.
