Australian Mark Webber has thrown down the gauntlet to McLaren pair Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button after recording the fastest time in Saturday morning practice for the Formula One Grand Prix in Shanghai.
The Red Bull Racing driver clocked his session-best lap of 1min 35.323secs with two minutes remaining in the hour-long session, extending his margin over the rest of the field after he took top spot with six minutes to go.
The 33-year-old, who qualified on pole at the Malaysian Grand Prix two weeks ago, was two-tenths of a second quicker than Hamilton in second place.

Sebastian Vettel, was third fastest in the second Red Bull, the German has finished ahead of world champion, Jenson Button, with the other McLaren in what appears to be a thrilling battle for pole.
The young German once again got the better of compatriot and team-mate Michael Schumacher with the seven-time world champion clocking the seventh fastest lap.
Renault’s Robert Kubica was eighth, while current drivers’ championship leader Felipe Massa was ninth in his Ferrari with the BMW Sauber of Kamui Kobayashi completing the top 10. Auto Racing Daily
