Sebastian Vettel put in a late effort to set the pace on a drying track in the final practice session for his home race, the German GP.
Although the session started slowly due to early rain and a damp track, the final 20 minutes in the dry saw an interesting battle explode between the Red Bulls, Ferraris and McLarens.
Mark Webber, Felipe Massa and Lewis Hamilton traded fastest lap for fastest lap as they made the most of conditions while Michael Schumacher was up there but not quite. SkySports

Rubens Barrichello was eighth and Nico Hulkenberg 10th in the sister Williams behind Renault’s Robert Kubica.
Virgin were unable to take advantage of the drier and increasingly rubbered-in track surface late on as both cars suffered from mechanical issues - they finished 22nd and 23rd, eight seconds off the pace.
Lotus won the battle of the new teams with both drivers ahead of the Hispanias and at least a second quicker. Yahoo! Eurosport
